LKNU Emporium

Location

LKNU’s flagship boutique can be found in Melbourne city’s pre-eminent shopping destination.  Synonymous with the brands commitment to exceptional, Emporium Melbourne is the ideal home to one of the largest and independent distributors and retailers of niche, indie and artisan perfumes in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.  LKNU’s appetite for eclectic and diverse is perfectly reflected in the space, carefully designed by Russell and George, crafted by the talented team of commercial interior experts at Yarra Valley Commercial.

Design

The starting point was a blank canvas of plaster walls with a concrete floor and ceiling.  Work began onsite with screeding the floors, laying the floorboards and relocating sprinklers.  Offsite, the production team were hard at work, in the Croydon based factory crafting a collection of circular displays, curved cabinetry, alcoves and storage units.

Featuring a multiple of highlights, it’s difficult to carve out the most impressive. However, first impressions amongst LKNU’s discerning clientele, deems the light filled ceiling a clear winner.  A stainless-steel backdrop provides the base for a series of cylindrical pendant lights to hang from at varying levels.  A display that appears almost magic as the light reflects throughout the boutique, demanded the everyday practicality of easily changing lightbulbs! Add to that, sensible stock storage options were also a must, housed in hand crafted, natural oak cabinetry.

The cylindrical theme extended to the internal permitter with the alcove and display cabinet cut outs.  As a result, customers enter the boutique, and are taken on a sweeping journey of colours and fragrance, to a plush seating area, before browsing the mirror backed displays and moving through to service.  To the left and right, the mirror toped cylindrical displays entice customers to stop and indulge in a sensory experience for the eyes and the nose.

From the Project Team

When considering the initial brief, YVC Project Manager Phil, reflects “We knew this would be an impressive fitout when it was completed.  We also knew with so many components, attention to detail was going to be paramount.”

Phil adds “The Russell and George design boasts a boutique layout, colour palette and combination of finishes conducive to a calming and relaxing customer journey. The YVC team were inspired by the vision, and the pleasure was all ours in bringing it to life.”

The Yarra Valley Commercial team deliverables included the CAD programming and in-house production of all bespoke joinery items.
